Steve's New CD: Revolution of Love
Did you know that Steven writes poetry?
For many guys it may be hard to admit that they like to write poetry. There is a fear of being too "in touch" with their feelings. For Steven, poetry is more of a matter of neccessity. There have been many times in Steven's life that have been difficult to endure. In those moments, poetry becomes a way to express what's happening inside. Click 'more' to read some of his poems.

In today's world it is sometimes difficult to spot the difference between artists who perform out of love and artists who perform out of the need to be known and recognized. True love always requires two things: sacrifice and selflessness. Steve’s heart is motivated by these two principles as he seeks to bring those around him to a higher standard of love.

“I grew up learning how to play the part of church, but it was only after I grew up that God brought me down to nothing, only to rebuild in me what it means to actually be the church. The core of what He has taught me is that there should be nothing that captures my greatest attention besides Him.”

God began to speak to Steve through the events in his life. These events slowly began to peel away the pride and self-reliance that all of us are familiar with. Sacrifice and selflessness come at a great price of losing your own desires to be great or to be recognized.

“I began to grow uncomfortable with my pursuit of music. As I was beginning to go through career coaching, fashion consulting, and other things related to that world, I felt in my heart that I wasn’t pursuing the heart of God. I wanted to be different. I didn’t want to point people to how good I could be, but rather how good God is.”

And what better way to experience the goodness of God than to endure change? Change is what formulated the foundation for Steve’s latest musical work “Revolution of Love”. The songs on the album either share about Steve’s process of going through change, or were written to inspire change in your own life.

“Change is the driving force of progress. It's the velvet hammer that lays the ages to sleep. Christ did not come to make things easy. Instead, He came to make a way for us to be more like Him. To become more like something else and less like who you really are...shouldn't it stand to reason that you'll have to lose yourself in the blessed and sweet moments of change?"

Steve is happily married and is currently serving on staff at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, TX. Considering his roots in a small congregation and current service in a large congregation, Steve has a great foundation to relate to many different sizes of groups.
